Weekend Walk-In Workshops for All Ages!

  • Upcoming Dates: SATURDAYS: April 6 • May 11 • June 1
  • Time: 1pm–4pm
  • Cost: $5 per participant (museum admission not included)
  • Ages: All ages welcome (under 16 must be accompanied by an adult)
  • Where: 2nd floor Classroom, Jim Rouse Visionary Center

Join us for a hands-on, drop-in, art-making workshop once a month in the AVAM classroom! Our Education staff will help you explore new creative territory & make a project inspired by one of our beloved visionary artists. Supplies & boundless inspiration provided!

Please Note:

No advance registration or payment required, just drop in during a scheduled Saturday to participate. Payment can be made by cash or credit at AVAM's Front Desk, or at the Classroom when you arrive. Museum admission is not included in the cost of the workshop. Workshop will run while supplies last.

April 6: Family Tree in 3D

Inspired by our current mega-exhibition "PARENTING: An Art without a Manual," make a 3D sculpture of your family tree!

May 11: Mr. I’s Bottlecap Snake

Artist Mr. Imagination aka Mr. "I" (born Gregory Warmack), was famous for his artwork created out of bottle caps. Come make your own bottle cap piece by stringing recycled materials into a slithery sculpture.

June 1: Honey I Shrunk My Family Portrait

Illustrate & shrink your family portrait on Shrinky Dink plastic.
