Current Special Exhibitions

The Great Mystery Show
October 7, 2017 - September 2, 2018
Main Building

From psychics to physicists, The Great Mystery Show artfully peels away the veil of the unknown! The exhibit playfully explores Mystery as that one secret power behind great art, science, and pursuit of the sacred. Mysteries personal and universal, punctuated by the out-of-this-world testimony of astronauts, mystery writers, theoreticians, poets and psychics, aim to inspire the "sleuth for the truth" detective within each of us. No "alternative facts here"—just a wildly visual exaltation of the strangeness and wonder of Life itself.

Reverend Albert Lee Wagner: Miracle At Midnight
Now on view 3rd floor gallery, Zanvyl A. Krieger Main Building

AVAM's newest one-man show, "Reverend Albert Lee Wagner: Miracle At Midnight," is in celebration of one of America's most prominent visionary artists. Curated from 50+ Wagner masterpieces recently gifted to the museum by Gene and Linda Kangas, this show will also include two of Reverend Wagner's largest works, donated to AVAM's permanent collection ten years ago by Pat Handal.

Upcoming Exhibition

Parenting: An Art without a Manual
October 6, 2018 – September 1, 2019
Main Building

Our original mega-art exhibition will bring together historic, l’dor v’dor, traditional and transcultural wisdom right beside the latest scientific insights brought forth from expert brain and behavioral research. Even trans species parenting — exploring hardwiring and actual practice of parenting and nurture evidenced from the animal domain will be included — as will the important role of grandparents, mentors, foster and adoptive parents, enlightened protective service providers, and teachers. Here, futurists weigh in to document the swiftly changing influences on parenting and the projected trajectory of those changes on families of today and tomorrow. Examining through art, humor, historic text, and first-hand testimony, the good, the bad, the horrific, and the sublime of parenting possibilities, our goal is nothing less than to inspire well-informed parenting best practice, honest dialogue, child and parent reconciliation, and a better way forward.
